Needing Help With Gift Ideas For Readers

Thursday, July 29th, 2010

Is there someone on your list that does nothing but read a book all day? Are they the kind of person who has more books than your local library? If that is the situation you likely have no idea what to give a person like that. I have some ideas for every budget. You can choose what you want to spend and what makes the ideal gift for readers for whatever budget you may be on.

For that really special reader on your list, you could put money into a digital reading device, such as the Amazon Kindle or the Barnes & Noble Nook. These new latest digital readers digitally store hundreds of books all on one device, and are perfect gifts and easy to use for readers of every age group. And the books that are downloaded on the device doesn’t cost anymore than actual paper books, so the reader won’t have to worry about insane costs for the books they buy.

Likewise you have entry to free books and some classics they might not be available in print. But these devices are almost costly, which is their only downfall. For a less costly alternative, gift cards are normally a good gift idea for him or her. Since books are usually relatively inexpensive, you can normally escape with not spending a lot of money on a gift card. They will also relish spending time in the bookstore selecting what to purchase. Book lovers can spend hours on end persueing the stacks.

Readers can also find decorative bookmarks helpful and book lights. Many readers love writing also. Journals are some of the best gifts for people who enjoy reading and writing. You can pick out from some simple ones or bound in leather journals for serious writers. Books on tape might appear to be a shortcut but they’re perfect for long trips. The book lover can enjoy a mystery while driving or if they’re the passenger. By the time the destination is reached, a manuscript has been enjoyed.

What Art The Hottest Present Ideas For Children

Tuesday, May 4th, 2010

For the little princess in your life these are the best gift ideas for the upcoming holiday season.

For girls up to nine in age the make your own jewelry kits are a hot item as are the edible jewelry kits. The fashion design studios for dolls and pets are also a number one on the wish list this year. Games that link to their game systems or TV and are interactive like dancing or designing are items all girls are interested in.

Boys this year are all about the music. Guitars, drums even keyboards are are most wish lists this season. Discovery type kits are on boys minds too. Kits that they can actually build and create things are great for the crafty ones and it gets them out from the front of the computer or TV. Even boys are more environmentally conscious this year as they are asking for bikes that run solar batteries and scooters instead of mopeds or mini bikes.

Games that are interactive and teach your younger children are all the rage this year. You can even find games that teach mathematics, English and reading. As with all children any toy that makes noise is a great toy too so trains are still popular and electronic games as well as ride on battery powered trucks for the boys and cars for the girls.

Gift ideas for teenagers can be a little tricky as their taste change so often. All teenager’s love music and concerts, find out if their favorite group is coming near you and buy them tickets then place in their stockings for a grand surprise they will love. Dolls specially made for collecting and modeling car kits are still hot items. Games whether board or video are always a classic fun gift for all ages. Digital cameras and music download players are very hot gift request this season.

For kids who are in college or going to college gifts that cure boredom are great ideas. For the more inventive and creative art kits, drawing kits even modeling kits or pottery kits can keep thier hours filled with fun and relaxation. The guys all love to play an instrument because they think all girls love it so any musical type instrument will be the perfect accessory for them this year.

With all the vampire fame getting gifts of popular vampire, mystical or sorcerer novels is a perfect holiday gift. So are the movies which include the same now that started out as books and are now on film.

Gift ideas should come from the heart and should represent the person you are giving them to. No matter the price whether high or low as long as you remember that your gift will always be a success to your loved ones.

Some Simple Thoughts On Getting Gifts For Women

Saturday, April 10th, 2010

When you come to buy a gift for a woman you might find that this is a trickier task than you had originally thought. It will, of course, depend massively on whom you are buying for and what your relationship is to that particular woman. For example, you would not buy your grandmother the same things as you might for your girlfriend.

The best thing to do when buying a gift for any woman is really to think about what they like and therefore what they might want. For example, if you are buying for a friend who is concerned with and loves to get beauty products then you might want to get her the best eye cream that you can find. Or maybe you are getting a gift for your mother who loves cats. Maybe you could get her a cat figurine with a card with cats on it.

It really comes down to what they are going to like and therefore this is what you are going to have to think about. It will also depend on who they are as to how much time, effort, and money you are willing to commit to the cause. For example, you may well want to be spending a lot more on your girlfriend for an anniversary than you will for a simple birthday party at your friend’s house.

If you are getting a gift for your girlfriend and you are not completely flush with money then something like eau de parfum spray is a good idea. Fragrance is always an easy option if ever you feel like you are stuck for ideas and you can never really go wrong with one. If you are committing to spending a bit more then the most obvious thing to get would be a lovely piece of jewellery.

You do have to be careful however and make sure that you are sensitive. If you know a particular person is concerned with losing weight then it might not be the best idea to get her weight loss books, even if it may be a good gift.

You may be able to do something like this as a joke, however, if you know someone who won’t take it all too seriously. In fact, getting a jokey gift is always a great option if you are a little stuck for ideas or you are trying to find a gift for someone who pretty much has everything already!

These are only a few simple thoughts on getting gifts for women.

Combine Food, the Internet and a Credit Card for a Winning, Giving Recipe

Friday, March 19th, 2010

I am not a great shopping enthusiast. Except around the winter holidays, I hate the parking problems, I don’t enjoy browsing aisle after aisle looking for something that would be just perfect for Grandma or Uncle Arthur. I certainly do not like waiting on line with frustrated people killing time for the lone employee to handle a complicated exchange. During the holidays, I enjoy strolling through stores just people watching, without being weighted down with bulky packages. The experience for whatever reason gets me into a holiday mood, but I do my actual shopping and buying almost entirely on the web. That’s a practice I developed in the very early years of the Web.

While online shopping keeps me from being pushed around in a busy department store or standing in line at a little boutique, it doesn’t keep me from the most dreaded part of any gift giving event; choosing the right gift for a birthday, a holiday, a sick friend or whomever. Then about five years ago, I discovered food.

Of course, I actually discovered food when I was still an infant, but it didn’t occur to me as a great gift until I had suffered through many rounds of birthdays, baby showers, and countless other events that seem to always pop up. I received a gift basket of little sausages, spreadable cheeses and plain crackers. It was terrible! At the same time, though, I thought what a great gift this could have been. All they had to change in the gift was the quality of the contents!

Since then, I have been busy conducting research (that’s just my word for “sampling”). I have found online vendors who offer genuine quality for about the same price that you can get that synthetic stuff at the mall. (You know the one I mean, but I’m not about to open myself to a libel or slander charge by naming the brand.) Just like the mall kiosks, the online shops handle all the shipping, gift cards, everything. I know that my gifts will be exceptionally pleasant surprises for all of my gift recipients.

The wide selection of quality gift foods available is truly remarkable. It ranges from live lobster dinners to a gourmet fruit basket; from cookie bouquets to live lobsters; from wine gift baskets to imported caviar or fine Wisconsin cheeses.

For those on my gift list who live nearby, I usually assemble my own gift baskets. Even in those cases, the Internet comes to my rescue with helpful suggestions about how to make my self-assembled gift foods more interesting. The available articles also have great gift ideas for special people who often happen to be especially difficult when it comes to choosing a gift.

If you happen to see me walking down a store aisle with a huge smile on my face when everybody else seems frantic, you will now know how I can be cheerful when surrounded by panic. But don’t tell my Uncle Arthur.

Hard Times Call for Practical Gifts

Sunday, March 14th, 2010

A few days ago, I talked with a family friend who recently learned that his huge manufacturing company was closing his plant. He is actually luckier than most of the people working for that company. He very recently reached the magic age at which he qualifies for early retirement, so he will continue to have a steady income. Those who did not reach that milestone of the specified number of years with the company will get a small severance package and be left to search for a job in that difficult market. That caused me to think about giving gifts for special occasions to those people who are finding themselves in tough situations. I came up with a few suggestions that make more sense than a piece of home decor or a new tie. Here are some of them:

A gourmet fruit gift basket is healthy, beautiful, delicious and always enjoyed. If you live near your gift recipient, you can find a lovely basket or other attractive container and fill it with fruit that is in season in your region of the country, obtained at a farmers market, and fill it out with a few exotic fruits picked up at your local super market. If your loved one is farther away, you can arrange for any of a large range of beautiful fruit gift baskets to be delivered to the recipient’s home. It will help them to reduce their grocery bill on their next trip to the super market.

A unique meal is another way to remember a special occasion. One alternative might be to take the friend to a special restaurant. If price is no object to you, be sure to suggest some of the pricier entrees on the menu, so that your guests know that they should not worry about ordering whatever they prefer. For example, you could say something like, “The crab legs are perfect here, but, if you don’t like seafood, try the filet mignon.” If they live too far away for that, you can actually find delicious, gourmet, chef-prepared meals online that arrive frozen and can be heated in almost no time. (I actually keep my freezer stocked with these.) Or you might send a gift certificate to a special place in their town.

You might also consider a tasty dessert. No person should have too many desserts, but on a birthday, anniversary or holiday, everyone deserves an opportunity to indulge a sweet tooth. Bake cookies, if that is a skill of yours, and hand deliver or have them delivered. For something a little more special consider giving them a freshly baked pie or turtle cheesecake. Whether you make it yourself or have others do the work for you doesn’t matter. It will be appreciated and definitely enjoyed either way.

You’ll notice a common feature in these suggestions. They all involve food. Someone who is going through a difficult time may not want to accept charity, but nobody can reject a genuinely special gift. If it reduces the grocery bill by a bit, so much the better.

A Fresh Fruit Basket Is The Ideal Present!

Monday, March 8th, 2010

A fruit basket will brighten the day of someone in your life. Whether they are recovering from an illness or just in need of a “pick-me-up,” they will really enjoy it!

Fruit giftbaskets are typically made with various fruits organized with ribbons and  bows to decorate them. Customizing a fruit basket can be easy! Make the gift of a  fruit basket mean more by decorating it with things they like and the fruit they love!

If the person that you are going to give the fruit basket to loves strawberries and kiwi, fill it up with those two fruits and they are sure to love it. What is their favorite color? Chose ribbons in their favorite colors or pick some ornaments that fit the theme that you are going for to decorate the basket.

Giving flowers is a very cliche gift. Not only does everyone else give flowers, flowers will only last for a short amount of time. They are pretty to look at but what else can they do for you? The gift of a fruit basket can do much more!

Fruit will serve several purposes when it is given to a person that is recovering from  an illness. The fruit in the basket are packed full of vitamins that is sure to get  them on the road to feeling better much sooner.

The office setting is a wonderful place to give a fruit giftbasket. There are so many  options when you give a fruit basket. The person that you give it to can share it with  the office coworkers or take it home to share with their families. They could also  leave it on their desk and enjoy it whenever the need for a snack arises.

When you need to get a gift for your boss and you are unsure what he likes and dislikes a fruit basket can be a great idea. A male boss would much rather get a fruit basket than a bouquet of flowers. You could have it decorated in his favorite team colors if you know what they are.

Why not give that special someone a unique gift such as a fruit basket. Personalize it or just get a random bunch of fruit. Either way, they are sure to enjoy the fruit basket that you chose for them. It is sure to be a hit!

Getting in Shape: Some Suggestions for Giving in Shape

Saturday, February 13th, 2010

There are times when we walk past the vitamin store in the mall, we recognize a friend browsing the shelves with their basket already half full of supplements.  They are the health freak; that friend of ours who is always trying out the latest diet or newest exercise fad.    Or maybe they represent those among us who are trying to lose those extra pounds…for the third year in a row.    So, when their birthday comes around, it can be challenging to get them a gift that meets their healthy living. But, at least you have a good starting point.  You can take this information and turn it into a gift that will inspire them.

A good gift idea is to get them a membership to a local health club or gym.  They’ll be among others with the same goals, and plenty of equipment to help them take on their challenges.  Some of the equipment can be intimidating or tricky looking, and the staff is always willing to demonstrate how to work them.  Many health clubs will also offer trainers to guide customers in a work out regime that best suits them.  Getting a friend a membership is a great way to motivate someone to get out of the house and get started on shedding the pounds.  If your friend is already a health nut, chances are they already have a membership, but that doesn’t mean you can’t give them a free month or two at their club of choice.

If a gift of a club membership is a bit more than you planned to spend, there are other gifts that can provide the same message of support.  A stop at your local sports shop is always a great place to find loads of gift ideas for your health conscious friend.  Health stores can give you plenty of gift ideas, too.  You might find a video guide on a popular exercise routine or an inspirational book.

Just because they want to lose weight doesn’t mean they can’t eat.  Many sports shops will have cook books for the health conscious.  These books are a great idea for those who are fine when it comes to working out, but have trouble controlling their diet.  The sports shop has new ideas at every turn including pedometers and heart rate monitors making your gift hunt much easier.

If you’re looking for a more personal gift, one of the best healthy gift ideas you can get is a fruit basket. Fruit can become an extremely healthy habit.  Think of the food pyramid that you may have first glimpsed when you were in grade school.  Fruit is healthy.  Fruit is one of the healthiest foods around; it is totally cholesterol-free and provides many of the essential vitamins that we all require.    Fruit baskets can come in several different assortments that will provide your friend with his favorite treats.  However, if your friend has just begun a low carb diet, he or she will not be permitted fruit until later in the diet’s progression.

So regardless of whether your friend is a newcomer to the health and fitness lifestyle or has been active for many years, supporting their efforts to drop some weight by getting them a healthy gift is a great way to wish them a happy birthday.

Gift Suggestions in Abundance Can Be Found Online

Saturday, February 13th, 2010

I’m a little embarassed to admit this, but I am a gift giving catastrophe.  No, I don’t stumble and break the gifts before giving.  Whenever it is gift-giving time, it just takes me an extremely long time to move beyond the decision stage.  I don’t know why my ideas seem to me to lack any originality or creativity.  I’m sure you’ve already figured out the solution to my despair: the Internet.

The Internet is full of the usual and the unusual when it comes to gift suggestions.  Of course I know that a lot of the people making suggestions are actually trying to get me to spend my hard earned money.  Actually, I don’t even object to that.  I figure if someone can help me solve my gift quandry, then they deserve to make a profit from my purchase.  In my country, that’s the patriotic way to look at it!

Is there anyplace other than the online world where I might be inspired to send my mom a New York style cheesecake instead of the same boring chocolate cake I usually sent her?  Fortunately, I can stretch this one idea out for many years simply by changing the flavor of cheesecake from one birthday to the next.

My sister-in-law has my same decision making problem.  She went online and discovered a bracelet idea for her grandmother (on the good side of the family–not mine).  It worked out beautifully for her but it raised the bar to a higher standard for me.

There are gift ideas online for various age groups like retired folks or young couples.  You can also search using your favorite search engine by looking for gifts for a particular occasion from Christmas to Bar Mitzvahs, birthdays to graduations, or even those holidays when nobody seems to really know the origin, such as Sweetest Day or St. Astor’s day or Siamese kitten day.  If you already have the beginnings of an idea, which is already one step ahead of me, you can conduct a search for a product category.  You might be inventive enough to know that you want to buy Cousin Martha a scarf, so you can check out which ones are most popular or unique or are the greenest.  You might know that you want to buy your neighbor some accessory for his newly restored 1957 Chevy convertible.  You can actually search for specific parts for that sort of thing.  The possibilities are mind boggling for me.

Indeed, there are entire websites dedicated to people who give gift ideas for gift klutzes like me to steal and claim them as our own.  If you happen to be one of those sorts of blessed people with too many ideas to use yourself, please put them online so that I can find them or you could just send the item directly to me and I’ll forward it to my favorite recipient.  You can count on my everlasting appreciation.

The Secrets Behind the Revolutionary Kindle

Saturday, February 6th, 2010

The Amazon Kindles have vastly spread throughout the world – from the United States to over other 100 countries. Since the creation of these Kindles, millions of people have proven that reading books and magazines have helped them in building efficient time and in providing an easy access of purchasing the best-selling books and newest articles and blogs.
Here are some factors why many people like me were encouraged to purchase the new Kindle.

1. Kindle is a perfect partner for travel and trips. Yes, with the Kindle, it provides me a way to enjoy my long hour flights. This electronic wireless reading device is an ideal way of accompanying me wherever I go whether I am outside the house for some personal travel or business trip. Due to its removable battery that runs for several days, I can enjoyably read anytime at my own comfort.

2. This wireless reading device has a wide selection of books. Downloading books right to this reading device is possible. For about 350,000 books, newspapers and magazines available to choose from including the New York Times best-sellers, this revolutionary Kindle can carry 1,500 books. Not only that, there are also some free book sample provided where you can read the first chapters of the book then you have the option to download it or not. Its free book sample helps me a lot in selecting the best books.

3. Features of the Kindle are truly remarkable
. This wireless reading device has a 6 inches diagonal E Ink electronic paper display with 600 x 800 pixel resolution and 16 level grayscale. This means, the texts and prints are readable and clear. I love its product details that let me adjust the font size and zoom the images and photos. With its 5-way controller, Kindle helps you to highlight words or phrases. It also has read-to-me or text-to-speech mode with the option to choose from either a male or a female voice. So whenever my eyes get tired, I simply turn on the button while I listen freely without holding and turning the pages to the next since the pages automatically turn. Also, this wireless reading device has a built-in Oxford dictionary.

4. You can email using a Kindle. Another best feature that I like the most is its capability to email documents and files such as .doc, .txt and .pdf. For 10 cents only, I can have a quick access for an emergency conversation and receiving and/or sending important messages. There were times I will use my Kindle to email and ask how my family is doing when I’m aboard a plane.

5. Kindle is easy to carry and affordable. The Kindle weighs only 10.2 ounces and measures 8 inches long, 5.3 inches wide and 0.36 inch thick. In short, you can bring this Kindle any place you go because it perfectly fits to your bag. In my case, the weight and size of my Kindle is ideal to bring every time I go out of town. Kindle meets your budget, too, like other inexpensive Amazon products. Everyone can buy this online in a small amount of dollars. I didn’t spend too much time purchasing my own Kindle. It only took me one click to purchase this reading device.

This wireless reading device is truly an amazing Ebook that builds a great means of reaching readers to the most accessible and comfortable ways. If the Amazon Kindle works with my needs, try to experience it also to have the sources and information you need.

Do You Know What Your Woman Wants?

Friday, July 31st, 2009

I’m a lady who knows how to shop for a guy, and I prepared this for you men.

Men loathe the thought of entering a shopping mall. Women love the mere thought of going shopping. Men would rather shovel a barn stall than go shopping. They can begin to feel their testicles shrivel, mouth become dry, and hyperventilation set in. It isn’t fair and there is just too much stuff…

Guys, I’m on your side. I suggest you pour yourself a nice cup of fresh roasted coffee and mull through this article. It will bring you happiness for years to come!

A little hint to you girls, if you have something in mind write it down and paste it to your man’s forehead! Keep it simple! Make sure to list the price and places to buy the stuff. You must make sure he knows where the list is and keep it updated! Include in the list your favorite color, flower, and clothing size you wear (the actual size, not like your drivers license weight.)

Make the list guys!, but, I know you’re guys, so here’s some guidelines. Listen up here dudes! Don’t buy us ladies gift cards! Also, clothing is completely off limits unless we have sent you in for a specific item, in a specific color and specific size. We have to try on an item and see how it, and the two sizes above and below, fit. Trust me, you don’t know us that well.

Personally, I like to receive flowers with a romantic note promising dinner at a fine restaurant. An extravagant meal at a fine restaurant will get you major brownie points. We like to know that you have thought about the elements of a night out. If you have it to splurge, then a night at a great hotel is more than likely to end very well.

Another one of my favorite gifts is a spa treatment, but if you can’t afford a day at the spa then you can always buy her some scented bath salts, romantic candles and a high quality bath robe. For example, there is organic cotton, all the way to fine Egyptian cotton robes. Find the one that best fits your budget.

None of these ideas sound good to you? Then look to her sweet side. Nearly any woman will melt at the mention of gourmet chocolate and coffee. For a twist you may want to consider Fair Trade chocolates and Fair Trade coffee. An excellent option for the girl that loves her coffee is a coffee of the month club membership from a gourmet coffee roaster. Coffee clubs are great way to sample through lots of different coffees. Stick with the finest gourmet coffees and chocolates. Don’t get canned coffee and think you’ll receive kudos.

Nearly all women need high quality pens and a planner or journal. It is very frustrating to hunt through you purse and not have a pen. Even more frustrating is to hunt for a pen, then find one that doesn’t work. Whatever you do, make sure you purchase a high quality pen. If you opt for a journal over a planner get one that has plenty of pages, but not so big that she can’t hold it.

If your lady is into growing things then by all means, a nice potted plant is not out of the question. What woman can resist a beautiful potted flower? Every time she looks at the plant she will think of you!

Men, don’t be afraid to ask a women what she wants. Every woman knows what she wants! We just need to know how much you are willing to spend. I’ve already given you a good guideline to get you started on your gift buying. Make sure that whatever you get your girl, it reflects her desires and needs, not yours. If all else fails, then a framed picture of the two of you will be enough to get you through this holiday.

If you need a quick, NOW solution, then click on chocolate gifts for a wide selection of Fair Trade organic coffee and chocolate gift baskets.
